Day Care Facilities for adults with learning difficulties

Day service support for
vulnerable adults
We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a high level of support to our individuals and are dedicated to encouraging as many people as possible to access their community.
Highly trained staff
The support at the Freedom Centre is provided by fully qualified and experienced staff.
All staff are trained to a minimum of NVQ level 2, but the majority are trained to NVQ level 3.
Mandatory training is updated on a yearly or 3 yearly basis depending on the subject.
Mandatory courses include:
- Safeguarding
- Fire Safety
- Infection Control
- First Aid
- Health & Safety
Other training includes:
- Moving & Handling
- Epilepsy
- Food Safety
- Positive Behavioural Support
Our staffing ratios are variable dependant on the individuals within a particular group. However, we use a base ratio of 5-1 for those who cope well as part of a group and 1-1 for those who requikre closer support.
Opening times & Daily activities
Opening times
Monday – Friday
9.30 am – 3.30 pm
We are open for 50 weeks per year, closing for one week at Christmas and for bank holidays. Dates are sent out at the beginning of each year.
You are free to choose which days you would like to attend providing we have vacancies on that day.
How our days are set
The day starts with everyone having a drink and a chat then each group will go and do whichever activity they are doing on that day.
For those who are only out for the morning, they will get back to the centre around 12 o’clock in time for lunch.
Afternoon activities will start around 1 pm then everyone meets back at the centre around 3.15 pm.
Everyone must bring a packed lunch or a microwave meal for those who require a soft diet.
In the centre
In our centre we have a range of activities available to take part in including:

- Jigsaws
- Games
- Films
- Foot spa
- Beauty
Many individuals enjoy doing these things independently as well as part of a group, so we arfe able to suit all needs and abilities.
Out & About
At Freedom Centre Ltd we are lucky to be situated close to Chesterfield town centre.
Our service users enjoy many outdoor activities including:
- Bowling
- Swimming
- Walking
- Golf
- Pub
We also offer regular day trips to places such as:

- Museums
